1. Make a list of things to do
One of the most important things you should do is to create a list of the pending tasks you have for back to school, in addition to this, add to each task a date of execution so you don’t leave everything to the last minute. Notebooks, pencils, lunch boxes, uniforms, shoes, backpacks and now, in addition to gel, masks and personal hygiene items. Write down everything, otherwise you will probably end up forgetting more than one detail. To make lists you can use your phone’s notepad or if you are not very tech savvy, make a list on paper.
2. Buy in advance
Last minute shopping is never lacking. Chances are, even if you’ve written everything down and shopped ahead of time, something will slip your mind; however, the more organized you are, the less this will happen. Buying in advance will help you compare prices, see deals and save more. You can take 3 or 4 of your favorite stores and see what deals and promotions they have that allow you to buy at the best prices. You can also choose to shop online and have everything shipped to your home. That way you can shop even at night and use that shopping time for other activities.
3. Practice hygiene habits with your children
Today more than ever, it is essential that you can practice hygiene habits with your children. Proper hand washing before eating, after toileting and after playing with friends. In addition, if they will be wearing a mask, you must teach them the correct way to use it, as well as the correct way to remove it when eating food and how to put it back on afterwards. Teach them to use an alcohol gel after touching doors, chairs, tables or bus seats. This will not only reduce the spread of COVID-19 but also of many other diseases.
4. Explain to your sons and daughters about COVID.
COVID-19 is a reality and part of the new normal, trying to hide the reality of this disease from your sons and daughters is wrong. However, in order to explain it to them, you must be well informed about it and how to transmit the correct information to your sons and daughters without alarming them or making them panic, but know the preventive measures. You can find a very good guide from the World Health Organization for you to read and pass on this information to your children here.
5. Practice your school day routines
We get used to the vacations and the days when we don’t have to worry about getting our children ready for school. That is why it is a good practice to reorganize your routine, adapting the times to get your little ones ready for school. Test two or three days, get up at different times to see which schedule works best for you; also, if you will be in charge of dropping off and picking up your children from school, you can try different routes to see which one is clearer and which one saves you the most time or which one you can combine well with your work and other activities. You will see that it will save you headaches.
6. Make a list for the first day of school
The first day of school is totally different from the rest of the school year. That’s why you should make a list of what you need for that specific day. Have your children go to bed early the day before, have their clothes and shoes ready and their lunches as prepared as possible. Remember that it is the beginning of a new routine and there are bound to be unforeseen events, so try to have enough time so as not to be late.
7. Don’t worry too much
And last but not least. Don’t worry too much. Worrying too much will only bring you headaches or illness. Relax, you will see that if you follow these tips you will have a great back to school. And if you feel you can’t take it anymore, give yourself a break, disconnect for a while and then come back or ask for help, a helping hand is a good idea always.
